The Research On Chinese Peasant's Participating In Politics Under The Construction Of A New Socialist Countryside

It has been a remarkable characteristic of the development of modern politics for the citizens to participate in politics. The citizen's participation in politics has had a close relationship with the political system and citizens themselves. Generally speaking, proper political participation is favorable for the stabilization of the democracy and the realization of the citizen's requisite interests as well as improving the level of citizen's self-education. Marx and Engels had placed an importance on the issue of political participation and had made tentative ideas about political participation for future society. During the construction of a new socialist countryside, peasants have much wider space for political participation than ever before, and the level of their participatory has also improved greatly. However, there are also many negative elements with it, such as the backwardness of rural economy, disfluency of political participation system in running, the impact of traditional political culture on the modern political culture and the individual peasant's lower educational quality, all of which made the political participation being with complicated characteristics in that the peasants hold a passionate and rational attitude towards political participation on the one hand and indifferent and irrational on the other hand.During the construction of a new socialist countryside, we should take measures in economy, politics as well as culture to improve peasant's enthusiasm and level of political participation. As to economy, keep on deepening the reform of economic structure in countryside, strengthening the investment on agriculture and the input of scientific technology, establishing the basic living security system in rural area. As to politics, continue to perfect the grass-roots political participation system, conceal the discrimination on peasant's participating in politics and widen the participatory range. As to culture, make efforts to cultivate modern participating politics and culture, greatly develop countryside cause in education, strengthen the construction of legal system in rural area and advocate the Party's grass-root democracy accurately in an all-round way.
