In the late 1980s and the early 1990s,with the drastic changes in Eastern Europe and the disintegration of the Soviet Union,the Cold War pattern which had existed for more than forty years ended at that point.With the disintegration of the Soviet Union, five Central Asian countries tried to be the independent politic bodies in the world arena. China and Central Asian countries share endless boundary line.Central Asia becomes more and more important for China because of China's huge demand for energy.After the Cold War,Central Asia,which is full of energy,became an important place that certain countries have been pursuing.Among these countries,considering the source of energy and geopolitics,Japan has strengthened the influence on Central Asia and has carried out a series of diplomatic actions,which cooperates with the America's Central Asia strategy aiming Russia and China.Therefore,to understand Japan's Central Asia diplomatic history and motivation is important for our national benefits.This essay fully inspects different stages of Japan's Central Asia diplomacy and sums up their features and the challenges China faces.Confronting the Japan's penetration into Central Asia,China,in order to safeguard the northwest of China, should continue to keep traditional friendly relationship with Central Asia countries, deepen regional economic cooperation,make full use of SCO to promote communication and cooperation in other fields.The essay contains four chapters.The first chapter analyzes the concept of Central Asia and its geopolitical features.The second chapter sums up the development, efficiency and features of Japan's Central Asia diplomacy.The third chapter analyzes two features of Japan's Central Asia diplomacy after the Cold War,explores its strategic intentions and presumes outlooks of Japan's Central Asia diplomacy.The fourth chapter proposes that China could make full use of SCO as a platform to lessen the impact of Japan's Central Asia diplomacy and deepen communication and cooperation with Central Asian countries.
