The Principle Influential Factors And Future Perspectives Of Mongolia-China Relations In Post War Era

People's Republic of China and Mongolia are traditional friendly neighbors.Both are developing countries and share a lot of common interests.Especially after the disintegration of the former Soviet Union and the end of the cold war,both countries established a highly effective cooperation in political,economic and cultural spheres.The purpose and value of writing this paper is laid out on the reasons below.Overlooking the history,promoting cooperation between two countries conformed to the interests of the people of both countries and of the world.Therefore,it is of great significance to introduce the history of the development of this bilateral relation during the cold war,a research on the main influencing factors and development prospects on the relations,as well as forecasting the policy trend of the development of bilateral relation.At the same time,analyzing the contributing factors on the development of this bilateral relation will produce practical significance on bringing up the constructive suggestions on the future development of cooperation of China and Mongolia.This is the significance of this thesis.The first section summarizes the history of the relations between the two countries, especially how the promoting factors after the cold war pushing political,trade,military cooperation and regional development.Trade and economic cooperation plays a vital role in the development of two countries,there's big gap of economic structure between two countries and has great complementarities.Recently there has been a rapid progress in energy cooperation between China and Mongolia,which is a new light spot of bilateral cooperation.The second part focuses on some restrictive factors in the relations between the two countries.In my opinion,such restrictive factors will require a longer time to be solved and difficult to be solved shortly.Especially during the 30 years of estrangement after the Sino-Soviet split.Mongolia is still vigilant toward China,thus the "China threat theory" still have effect,the two countries still have differences in some sensitive matters;for example Mongol-Taiwan relation,Taiwan still have 'informal' exchange with related Mongolian government institutions;Dalai Lama group visited Mongolia in the name of religious activities,which led to disagreements between Mongolia and China.In particular,Mongolia strengthening relations with USA,Japan and Europe under the framework of the "Fulcrum Diplomacy" had added new dimension on the relationship between China and Mongolia.In the third section,this article analyzing the development trend and policy suggestion,also proposing on how to increase political trust between two countries, promoting trade development,establishing a free trade zone,strengthening military trust and conducting full scale cooperation under the framework of regional cooperation.Traditional friendly relations between the two countries and trade pattern developed on the basis of the complimentary economic and merchandise structure are the stabilizing and assuring factors for both countries.Strengthening cooperation in economic as basis, both countries may enlarge strong relations in political,military,cultural fields.But there was barrier in the relationship between two countries,Mongol has suspicion toward China historically,even until today,also differences in Taiwan and Tibet issues,which will be hard to solve in the near future,also the new factors arise after the strengthening relation between Mongol and US,Japan.Relations between the two countries will maintain a coexistence of contradictions and cooperation,where the latter will presumably prevail.In the world of globalization and regionalization,promoting economic exchanges, expanding military cooperation,promoting personnel exchanges,coping with difficult and sensitive issues,work hard to eliminate contradictions in the relations among two countries,expanding both countries relations under the framework of regional cooperation is a basic strategy to both countries.
