A Brief Study Of Sino-US Bilateral Dialogue Mechanism

Communication mechanism is the carrier of the development of bilateral relations. The birth and development of.Sino-US dialogue and cooperation results from the fact that Sino-US relations have come to a certain stage of achievement now. The level and effectiveness of dialogue and cooperation is an important indicator to test the degree of the development of bilateral relations.China is the world's largest developing country; the United States is the world's largest developed country. The importance of Sino-US relations has gone far beyond the bilateral scope,and has increasing global significance. Globalization leads to interdependence of the two sides and has never been as profound as today. Accompanied with the growing of China's comprehensive national strength,the economic globalization and the upgrading in complementarity of the economic structure,the importance of Sino-US relations is increasing; the elements of confrontation are weakening; the elements of cooperation and coordination are becoming stronger. China is America's second largest trading partner and largest creditor,problems in the economy of China will have a profound impact on the United States.The United States and China need collectively deal with the non-traditional security issues like counter-terrorism,non-proliferation and global warming. Both China and the United States are well aware that interdependence in terms of economic development and security environment is becoming more and more significant.As far as now,China and the U.S.has established more than 60 dialogue regimes, covering almost every field of Sino-US relations.Some of the dialogues has a comparatively long history thus has experienced the rises and falls of bilateral relations and become a stable and mature communication mechanism; some of the dialogues used to play an important role in bilateral relations,and has accomplished their missions with honor; some of the dialogues,ascribed to the inaccurate orientation and the outside impact,had a promising beginning while failing to last long enough to become a mature one; others,as new dialogues,are still on their ways to be institutionalized,and only time can tell the results.Sino-US dialogue regime is the reflection of bilateral relations;and is a bidirectional channel between the two powers though which they can communicate and exchange ideals and intentions; and also it is the key to the ultimate goal of strategic mutual trust. Besides, a valid Sino-US dialogue mechanism is the bond of the two powers when collectively dealing with the global Affairs.
