A New Form Of People- To-people Diplomacy That Aims At Counter-negative Influence By Overseas Chinese Youth

As intercourse between China and western world increased under the background of globalization and China's rising, during Chinese and western's game, frictions occur at times. To respond to unfriendly actions from western world, a new form of people-to-people diplomacy that aims at counter-negative influence emerges. This paper describe it as: When one country's media, interest groups, NGOs or other kinds of organized individuals or organizations blemishes image of another nation, hurts its people's feelings or even infringes national interests by plotting, organizing and mobilizing all kinds of activities or social movements, an organized response to those deeds, with the purpose of blocking the movement's activities, resisting change, re-depicting images and presenting points of alternative views, by corporate organization or natural person (non-official institutes or non-authorized representative) that not qualified with formal diplomatic titles. This paper explores this kind of diplomacy though case study: choosing"4.19"assembly at the Republic Square of Paris in the themes of"Against Media Injustice And In Support Of Beijing Olympics"which initiated by Chinese overseas students in France; analyzing mobilization, participants, strategies, impacts and limitations of this assembly, as well as how they overcome difficulties; trying to show the significance of those youth's pilot initiation while draw experience and lessons from which; reflecting the type of"response to challenge"diplomacy that puts us in the adverse and passive status should not be the normal status in the long run, new strategies and projections for Chinese people-to-people diplomacy deserves consideration.
