It is very important to nurture students'mathematics application consciousness in secondary vocational schools. This essay is written according to writer's theory and experience after the surveys about the present state what the awareness of students of applying mathematics is like. It consists of five parts.Part I is about the importance of nurturing students'consciousness of applying mathematics thanks to country's concerns on it and the present state of the students. Part II talks about the theory base according to the surveys on the awareness of mathematics and the awareness of applying mathematics. In part III, the writer points out the factors that influence the awareness of applying mathematics of students lie in teachers, textbooks and students, etc. with the help of questionnaires among teachers and students. In part IV, strategies are put forward. Changing teachers'mind is the premise. Building up the mathematical course system with the specialty of secondary education is the guarantee. The key is to reform teaching. After-school activities are complement. Proper evaluation is the way to promote it. In part V, many teaching cases are mentioned. In the end, the writer draw the conclusion that a lot of work needs to be done to achieve the goal of nurturing the awareness of applying mathematics of students.
