There are three goals in the curriculum reform of physics in senior high schools, namely "knowledge and competence","process and methods",and "attitudes and values".The overall objective of the reform is that "students can initiate inquiry learning",which puts emphasis on learning by doing and focuses on the importance of 'process'and'experience'to make it become part of the lives of students.Thus, inquiry teaching model is valued by the majority of teachers,which puts students" learning ability in the first place.In order to guarantee the implementation of the quality education, it is time to change the knowledge and science issues as well as test-oriented teaching.With the purpose of investigating the process and effects of inquiry teaching in senior high schools,this essay gives recommendations for the teaching of physics based on research findings that are associated with efficiently learning of physics.This essay consists of six chapters and the following is the summary of each part.The first chapter briefly introduces the background and significance of inquiry learning of physics in senior high schools.Meanwhile, the situation of this teaching mode both from home and abroad is fully explained.The second chapter is about theories, principles,characteristics and strategies of inquiry leaning of physics related to the research.The third chapter presents the research plan, with detailed information to follow:The survey is conducted with a self-made questionnaire named dealing with feedback of inquiry teaching of physics in senior high schools and face-to-face interviews. The research targets are 262 senior high school students from Changshu Senior High School.With 260 samples received out of 262,among which 234 efficient, the effective rate of the samples is 90.0%.And the SPSS18 is used to run the procedures for descriptive statistics.The fourth chapter draws conclusions based on the data analyzed in previous chapters,the major ones listed below:Physical achievement is influenced by individual differences,of which student gender and where they come from are of no significant impact while how they are admitted into the school is of great impact.There is a positive correlation between students'academic performance and scores they get in physics.The top ones are usually those showing more positive self-efficiency and with good behavioral habits.The fifth chapter focuses on internal reasons based on the data collected from the survey.In the last chapter,the findings listed above are discussed and several proposals are put forward for both teaching and learning, which is based on the practical study of students and teaching experience.And the future direction of further study is proposed.
