The Construction Of Distinctive Campus Culture In Vocational Colleges

As the position of the higher vocational education has been more and more important in the process of the mass higher education, the new project, " how to build modern vocational colleges with Chinese characteristics" has aroused more attention. When the key words like "strengthen cooperation, improve quality, build modern vocational college with Chinese characteristics", which are taken as the development strategy of the higher vocational colleges over the next ten years, come out consistently, the administrators of the colleges began to realize that connotive development is the issue of the sustainable development.In 2006, the national finance supported ten billion for the construction of a hundred demonstration vocational colleges. After three years'construction and development, it proves that in order to realize the connotive development and strengthen their competitive power, the higher vocational colleges must focus their strategy development on improving quality like running idea, characteristics and value rather than the accumulation of the size and speed. But the current higher vocational education is still on the inertial stage of scale development. Most of the colleges still focus their major development target on the scale and the condition of the colleges. They haven't realized that the soft power like running idea, characteristics and value are the potential drive of the sustainable development. Therefore, we need to construct the campus culture which corresponds with the regulation of the vocational education and has its own characteristics. To merge the culture into each step of the higher vocational education is the objective demanding of its connotive construction and also important means of cultivating and promoting the core competitiveness.The higher vocational education which faces the grass-roots unit of the society, manufacture, service and frontline management aims at cultivating skilled talents with solid basis of theory, exceptional skill. These settle its own particularity in purpose, aim, idea, way of running colleges and its cultivating model, which means the higher vocational colleges should have its own bright characteristics.After analysing the connotation, characteristics and the present condition of higher vocational campus culture, the author puts forward some ways of constructing campus culture with higher vocational colleges characteristic which are as followed:1) construct material culture which highlights the characteristics of higher vocational colleges, contains talent idea, bears humanistic spirit and natural aesthetic perception.2) construct spiritual culture which represents the tradtion, marinates the spirits, condenses the value and has the unique style.3)construct system culture which takes "combine teaching, management and service into one, process monitoring and sustainable development" as the key line.4) establish behavioral culture which takes "setting harmonious relationship between teacher and student, intensifying skill, cultivating professional virtue, integrated muticulture" as the key line.5) construct higher vocational campus culture which characterises " dedicate to education, highlight the characteristics of speciality, cultivate elites".6)construct higher vocational campus culture which characterises " expending service, integrated muticulture, promoting regional economic development".7) construct higher vocational campus culture which characterises "highlight the characteristics of the enterprises, contain the enterprise culture, achieve win-win development. The above are both the analysing of the characteristics of higher vocational campus culture and the beneficial exploration of its approaches.
