With the intensified reform of basic education and the comprehensive promotion of quality education at present, Peking Opera, as one of the artistic forms with the most national characteristics, has entered into the music classes in primary and secondary schools in the spring of 2008. Up to now, no matter in the schools conducting pilot for nearly three years or in the primary schools just starting it in other provinces (municipalities), there are different degrees of ineffective teaching. Survey shows that at this stage the teaching of Peking Opera in primary schools has not reached the desired results yet, and students'satisfaction is not very high. Through the observation in the classroom, the researchers find that under the circumstance that the music teachers are lack of professional opera performing basis and students have no basic knowledge, poor teaching effect and students'lack of interest are mainly caused by traditional methods. In order to solve the problems of current traditional teaching, this paper presents the concept of applying information technology in Peking opera teaching in primary schools, and analyses the advantages of information technology in the opera teaching. In the process of planning strategies, basing on the rich resources in Liaoning Province education museum, the author analyses the award-winning music lessons depending on integrating information technology and music curriculum in recent years, sums up the mature experience of teaching practice, discusses with a number of experienced music teachers, combines their years of experience and the theories of teaching, child psychology, and educational technology, explores teaching strategies which are suitable for primary school opera teaching and beneficial to help students develop interest, finally designs and implements the cases of applying information technology in primary opera teaching and verifies the effectiveness of the strategy as well.This paper mainly adopts many research methods, such as literature research, survey research, field observation, case analysis, etc. The whole essay includes the following sections: the first part is an introduction, including the background, research status, research significance and research methods; the second part is a comprehensive interpretation of "Full-time Compulsory Music Curriculum Standards", and basing on which it analyzes the teaching concept and goal of Peking opera teaching in primary schools and the characteristics of learners as well; the third part discusses the role of information technology in Peking Opera teaching in primary schools, and points out the concrete application strategies of information technology; the forth part designs and implements the case of applying information technology in opera teaching, and analyses the characteristics of each kind of strategy according to its practice, and eventually verifies the effectiveness of applying information technology in teaching; the last part is the conclusion, and it shows that the application of information technology is able to compensate the shortcoming of traditional Peking Opera teaching and to promote teaching effectiveness; the teaching process involved with information technology can combine students' visual, auditory and action experience together and stimulate students'interest in learning, so that they won't feel that learning opera as a burden any longer; the research on the application of information technology builds the teaching model of "student development-oriented", so that students can actively and creatively involve in activities and keep the pleasure brought by traditional art.
