Hope is a positive motivational state that is based on an interactively derived sense of successful and it includes the goals, pathway and agency thoughts of three components. A large number of studies have shown that hope influences significantly physical and mental health and development, and it's a fundamental driving force of human development. Social problem solving refers to the natural environment or the social reality of problem solving, which is a very important capability to the individual. Therefore, the empirical research on hope and social problem solving of middle school students in early youth, which has profound meanings to the special group of the positive psychological training as well as Chinese education and social development.The research surveys 167 junior high school students through open-ended survey of social issue, and we find that the most common social problem of them have three major categories which include personal internal problems, interpersonal relationships and learning, from which we select the most typical seven problem situation and establish the questionnaire of a social problem for the junior high school students (story) situation. Then, combined with hope questionnaire of junior high school students were used in 686 junior high school students to analyze, we try to discuss the hope and the two dimensions of agency and pathway characteristics and the relations between quantity and quality of social Problem-solving strategies, and draw the following conclusions:(1)The most typical problem situations of junior school students contain seven areas which include academic stress, learning intrerest, learning methods, students relations, heterosexual relations, resistance, and self-control.(2)The hope of junior high school students has significant difference in the only child or the non-only child and academic performance. The specific performances are as followed: On the whole, hope doesn't increase with grade changes up or down, but in the second grade, it decreased, then it gradually increased in third-year fluctuations. The only child of middle school student is higher than that of the non-only child, and the academic excellent middle school students are higher than that of the relatively poor academic.(3)The hope and the two dimensions of agency and pathway of thinking have no significant correlation with the total amount of social problem-solving strategies.(4)The hope and pathways thoughts are significantly positively correlated with the number of positive strategies to solve social problems, but significantly negatively correlated with the number of negative strategies, and hope has significant prediction to the number of positive and negative strategies. The higher the level of junior middle school students in the hope, the more positive strategy and the less negative strategy they have.(5)The hope and agency thoughts significantly and positively predict the quality of social problem-solving strategy of choice. The higher the level of junior middle school students in the hope, the more likely they adopt the first strategy of higher quality.
