PURPOSE:So for, there is no report about effects of tai chi on expression on peripheral blood cells. Our study focus on effects of 4-month tai chi on expression of CD55 and CD59 on lymphocytes and erythrocytes of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after surgery, with levels of plasma catecholamine (CA)/cortisol (Cor)/β-endorphin (β-EP) and CD3+/CD4+/CD8+T lymphocyte subpopulations, so that we elucidate the possible mechanism of TCC as a accessory rehabilitation methods.METHODS:(1) Ten subjects (mean age:60.75±7.13years, male:6, female:4,surgery after2.43±0.64 years) with NSCLC after surgery agreed to participate in this study.Date of subjects before and after Tai Chi were analyzed。(2) Subjects learned to perform 24 type standardized movements and tai chi breathing exercises under the guidance of an expert TCC teacher. We adjusedt the execise intensity via a high center of gravity changing and intermittent time during 16-week tai chi program, and we also monitored heart rate when performing tai chi. Subjects in TCC took tai chi exercise every other day and lasted 45 to 60 minutes every time. (3) Blood samples from subjects who was not infected recent three days collected at 7:00 in the morning, who was not infected recent three days. Plasma Cor level was detected by RIA, and plasma CA/β-EP levels by ELASA. Peripheral blood sample was collected to isolate lymphocytes and erythrocytes separately, and use flow cytometer to analyse the mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) of CD55/CD59 and CD3+/CD4+/CD8+T lymphocyte subpopulations within 24 hours.RESULTS:(1)After the 4-month tai chi intervention, plasma CA levels significantly descreased(468.08±115.17μg/Lvs405.24±108.13μg/L, P<0.05). Plasma Cor/β-EP were no sinuficantly different. (2)The percentage of CD3 + and CD8 + T lymphocytes sharing lymphocyte significantly(CD3+T%:63.34±9.01v59.24±9.92, CD8+T%:27.42±8.84v22.37±8.89,P<0.01) decreased after 4-month tai chi intervention. CD4+/CD8+ratio (pre-test1.48±0.84, post-test1.81±0.89, P<0.01) (3) The MFI of CD55 expression was significantly(1.64±0.07vs3.50±0.67,P<0.01) increased on lymphocytes after the 4-month tai chi intervention, the MFI of CD59 expression significantly(4.98±0.64v3.31±0.24,P<0.01) decreased. (4) The MFI of CD55 expression was significantly(3.22±0.32vs 3.12±0.22,P<0.05)declined on erythrocytes with TCC intervention, the MFI of CD59 expression significantly(8.26±1.39vs13.58±0.85, P<0.05) increased. CONCLUSIONS:(1) Level of plasma CA of subjects significantly declied with 4-month Tai Chi intervention, and CD4+/CD8+ratio increased clearly,it implied that Tai Chi exercise had positive effects on immune of NSCLC after surgery.(2)After 4-month Tai Chi intervention, CD55 on lymphocytes significantly increased, and the expression of CD59 clearly decreased;CD55 on erythrocytes significantly declined, and the expression of CD59 increased significantly.Tai Chi intervention has sensitively effects on CD55 and CD59 on lymphocytes and erythrocytes,it is the new view of research on Tai Chi as a accessory rehabilitation methods for NSCLC after surgery.
