The teaching of Chinese characters is playing an important role in the mandarin teaching in middle schools, however, its research is comparatively dispersed, no matter in practice or in theory. It is ought to be a meaningful topic in researching how to strengthen the recognition of culture and improve the efficiency of reading through the teaching of Chinese characters.On the basis of the relative theory of the teaching of Chinese characters, the thesis is referred to as some researching fruits of the teaching of Chinese characters in elementary schools and middle schools, discussing and proving with the certain statistics data and teaching cases, in order to provide some theoretical and practical reference basis for the improvement of the effectiveness of the teaching of Chinese characters.The thesis is divided into 3 chapters.The first chapter clarifies the significance of improving the teaching of Chinese characters in the mandarin teaching in middle schools through 2 aspects:strengthening the recognition of culture and improving the efficiency of reading. The second chapter argues and analyzes the current situation of the teaching of Chinese characters in the mandarin teaching in middle schools via 4 aspects:ways of teaching, practical proof in lesson, data of survey and entrance examination. The last chapter presents some constructing suggestions as for the teaching of Chinese characters in the mandarin teaching in middle schools, providing some practical proposals for the teaching of Chinese characters through 3 aspects: idea, strategy and execution.
