| The real being situation of human, especially the spiritual super-substantial conditions and moral appearances induced Jaspers'consideration on existence, which was the original point of his existentialism. Meanwhile, education, specially the higher education had been the way to better human's condition of alienation,find themselves,know themselves and be themselves. Jaspers thought that the essence of education is waking human's unconscious soul by"the spiritual exchange among humans"and"exchange activities between soul and body among individuals". On this basis, higher education itself actually became an existential process which generates self education through spiritual nurture. It permeated in the process of science study and teaching in the universities. At the same time it relied on the cultural molding and ultimately created the spiritual realm of freedom.This research paper starts off with Jaspers'life experience and formation of his ideology, then his existentialism, and the influences on his higher education ideas from both of them; The main part of the paper analyzes Jaspers'higher education ideas: above all it describes Jaspers'thoughts on education essence and the features of higher education as a special kind of pattern——that is freedom,purity,unity,opening and morality. Thereafter, the paper argues that the higher education is a process of spirit nurturing, which is fulfilled through research,teaching,cultural molding and the interrelation among them; In the last chapter the author tries to make certain comments on Jaspers'ideas about higher education and put forward recommendations. |
