As China's economic construction steadily develops, and the market economy booms, national strength growing for the cost of science and technology development competition requires the support of a large number of high-quality talents. This raises higher, better and faster demands for the higher education. After the transformation of teaching management from the academic year system to credit system, higher education management usher in education to the public from elite type transformation. After the transformation achievement precipitates, teaching management faces new challenges again. That the university's low teaching level, the poor quality of teaching, knowledge learned by the students can't be putting into practice, urgently prompt reform of higher education management again. Thus, higher education has become the problem of common concern to the society.As for the higher education reform, management, education and sociology all attach great attention. The "economic man" theory acting as its logical starting point, management unilaterally emphasize on the function of management mode. Efficiency and development is thought to be gained from managing unlimitedly, and eventually person factors are completely erased. The important function of man's needs in teaching management reform is ignored. The pedagogical research of teaching management reform only rests on conceptual level. What pedagogy cares most is how to meticulously divide content of teaching management and types of management reform. More pedagogy scholars just research the reform of credit system mainly; how to ensure the quality of teaching becomes the focus of pedagogy and management research. Sociology has paid a lot of attention to the teaching field. For a long time, education factors are important variables in sociology horizontal stratified research. In recent years, sociology research changed, education-based longitudinal study embodied in the sociological research gradually. But sociological study of pedagogy is mostly influenced by new institutionalism. There is no complete sociological research which is adopted in teaching management reform.The essence of teaching management reform is system reform, namely institutional transition. As well as institutions, the teaching management is used to organize, normalize and coordinate the behavior of the individual. Therefore, in order to study the teaching management, this paper adopts the system analysis method, complementary with socialization theories. Institutional analysis originated from political science, but flourished in economics. While discussing economic system , Commons and Veblen do a detailed retrospect and research on the origin, formation, transformation of the system, then the institutional analysis research methods and theory is formed. Sociology has also paid early attention to the institutional research. Durkheim and Weber have presented unique views on institutional problems, so institutional analysis in sociology field has become a relatively mature theory.In process of literature research, I read a lot about pedagogy, economics, management and sociology about teaching management literature and materials of institutional change problem. This paper defines core concepts like teaching management, teaching management ideas, system, from the perspectives of sociology. Besides literature study, this paper also select the S university from Guangdong Province as the research strength, and I analyze and summarize S university's teaching management reform process from widely collected S university's teaching management regulations.Before case study, from theoretical point of view, this paper analyzes present problems that the university's teaching management reform faces. Among them, teaching management thoughts displacement, path dependence, and administrative centralization are considered as the three most seriously problems impeding college teaching management. It is also these problems that highlight the contradictions in teaching management, collapse the original system, and facilitate the emergence of new teaching management system. What S university did is: it reforms curriculum and changes talent training mode; it builds characteristics practice base and establishes practice teaching system. With the guideline of people-oriented in every aspect, student-centered, teaching management-based, S university abolishes obstacles of the original management methods, establishes the teaching management system that fit its management structure and external environment. This process is also embodies the institutional change. S university's teaching management reform is relatively representative, whose institutional reform process provide us with many beneficial inspirations: firstly, the teaching management thoughts timely renewal paid great attention, and the functions of teaching management thoughts can correctly guide the direction and process of teaching management reform, especially in the new period. People-oriented, student-centered teaching management is the most humanistic teaching management thoughts, which is worth widely advocating; Secondly, the starting point of system reform should be found from the problems exposed in the old system; thirdly, proper teaching management system can be conducted only its own organization structure characteristics and the social environment condition is considering to formulate teaching management content.From the perspective of sociology, using system analysis theory, complementary with socialization theories, this paper makes careful analysis of teaching management reform. For sociology, the research of teaching management field is a new theoretical trial. At the same time, college teaching management is faced with blame. Taking S university as an example, this paper summarizes the correct teaching management ideas and successful teaching management reform experience, and can provide reference for other university reform. This is of the practical and positive significance.
