The economic reforming in China brings differentiation of economic interests, multiple pattern and different ideology, and they all affect the university students. The study of this thesis is the student leaders. It uses social role theory from the respects of motivation, expectation, practice, realization etc. describing the role status and showing problems and causes in role playing of student leaders. Finally, there are some suggests of role development from school administration and instructor.The data of this paper gets from a survey in H university. According to purpose sampling and maximum sampling, those who are serving as a student leader more than one year constitute the sample. There are nearly two hundreds people in this sample, and they are representative greatly. In addition, depth interview is used in this paper, and there are some student leaders, teachers and students who have not be a student leader.The motivation of the student leaders is more personalized and subjectification, and role expectation is more enrichment at present. They have some apperception through the practicing and become mature. But there is much inconsistent phenomenon, for example:role unclear, role conflict even role failure. The reasons include two aspects. On the one hand, cultural conflict in the world affects the value of the student leaders. Economic interests make them utilitarian, and network used widely bring weak interpersonal skills. On the other hand, the constitution of the campus students, the philosophy of school training, management and the quality of student leaders can also lead to the problem of role playing.There are some recommends for the above issue. The campus should set the conscious that subjectivity of student leaders must be trained. The management of the student leaders should draw up rule to regulate the action and plan the career of them. The instructor should pay close attention of the student leaders in an equal, loose environment.
