Role-playing Research On Social Workers' Involvement In Epidemic Prevention And Control During The Tense Period Of The New Crown Epidemic

Taking the theory of social role as the research perspective,using in-depth interview and participatory observation,this research investigates the role expectation and role practice of social workers involved in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 in S and N streets of Guangzhou,collates and analyzes the role dilemma faced by social workers in the process of participating in the epidemic prevention and control,and thinks about the strategies to break through the dilemma,so as to summarize and improve the status quo of social workers' role-playing in the period of the COVID-19 tension.This research aims to provide some theoretical reference and practical summary for subsequent intervention of social workers and enable them to participate more effectively in the prevention and control of the COVID-19.The study found that different subjects have some differences in the role expectations of social workers.In the epidemic prevention and control system,the CPC and the government mainly position social workers as service providers,epidemic prevention and control participants and epidemic prevention propagandists;the experts and scholars believe that social workers should also play the role of researchers,learners,community governance designers,social resilience builders in addition to practicing the official role orientation;Grass-roots staffs expect social workers to enter the front line of the COVID-19 prevention and control directly to undertake related epidemic prevention tasks,while service objects hope that social workers can provide the necessary resources and service support.Social workers generally understand their role in the prevention and control of COVID-19,but still not comprehensive and clear enough.In the aspect of role practice,social workers play the roles of participants,propagandists,service providers,resource linkers,supporters,advocates and managers in epidemic prevention and control,and have the overall characteristics of higher work risk,more urgent work tasks,and the coexistence of professional and non-professional tasks.In the role-playing process of intervention in prevention and control of the COVID-19,the author sums up the role dilemma of social workers from the perspective of social role theory into five aspects: role ambiguity,role gap,role weakness,role conflict and role loss.Finally,combining with theoretical guidance and practical experience,the author puts forward some suggestions and strategies to improve the role dilemma of social workers from five aspects: clear role orientation,deepening role understanding,strengthening role skills,improving role identity and developing other roles.Thereby,social workers can play their roles more smoothly and fully in the process of intervention in the prevention and control of the COVID-19,give play to their advantages and practice professional value,and provide some experience and theoretical reference for the development of public health social work field.
