China is a united multi-racial country and there were various colorful cultures of Ethnic Minorities in different expressions. Actually, the ethnic minority culture is the sum of material products and spirit cultures created by the minority people who devote their industry, bravery and wisdom. some of them have all along been dazzling pearls in the treasure-house of our traditional national culture. However, some faults comes between the ethnic minority culture and education under the impact and surrounding of the main-stream culture and foreign culture, and even some excellent ones tend to be disappeared during the modernization process in ethnic minority areas. the most important question that the present system of education should deeply think about is the protection, development and inheritance of the ethnic minority cultures as well as the interconnection between ethnic culture and education.The following research will discuss the ethnic culture and education in Areas Inhabited by the Tujia Ethnic Group. The course of study in ethnic minority areas is too single and simple in our country. To show the development of school-based curriculum lying on the local ethnic culture in the minority areas, is a sign of conforming to the state's three-stage curriculum system, which is good for minorities to know and adapt to their owned culture. We can find two things in the research. Firstly, education administrator stress on the development of ethnic cultural curriculum very much; and in the other hand, there are many burning questions in the course of development for a variety of reasons, such as the economy limit, misunderstandings, and lacked policies.In order to broadly promote obtained experience and more reasonably solve existing problems, writer summaries the experience of separate successful cases, deeply analyses existing problems, and attempts to propose a strategy that is suit for national cultural school-based curriculum development target and model constructing in Tujia area, so as to provide theoretical evidence for the developing and exploring of national cultural school-based curriculum in Tujia area.
