Football has always been the traditional PE sports, which is loved by the majority of students, it is the main content and means of physical education, but also an important way of the students'cultural life after school. Based on the status of college football development and Tibetan students love football, it's necessary to study motivation between Tibetan university students and ordinary students, so as to make certain that the motivation of students participating in football, and take appropriate measures to improve college students'enthusiasm in football participation, it is useful to make college football popular and train the Tibetan football talent in our country.The researching methods in the paper include documentations research, questionnaire survey, comparative analysis and mathematical statistics. After studying sports participation motivation in football, the results show that:1. There are three forms of sports participation motivation: internal motivation, external motivation and motivation weaken. Tibetan college students'intrinsic motivation was stronger than that of common college students, but common college students'external motivation was also significantly stronger than that of Tibetan college students. Meanwhile, the scores of Tibetan college students and common college students are in the middle points or above, but motivation weakened in the middle points below, it can be concluded that the internal motivation and external motivation levels of Tibetan college students and common college students both are high, but there is less motivation for weakening trend.2. College students'football participation motivation is significant different between region: Tibetan college students'internal motivation was stronger than that of common college students, however, common college students'weaken motives is more obvious than that of Tibetan college students. In addition, Tibetan urban students are stronger than urban college students in learning, experience the excitement, but college students in cities are obviously stronger than that of urban Tibetan students in investment; Tibetan rural students are stronger than rural college students in learning, experience the excitement, while college students in rural areas are obviously stronger than that of rural Tibetan students in external regulation.3. Different levels of motor skills affect students'football participation motivation:Tibetan college students are stronger than common college students in learning, common college students on school team are obviously stronger than Tibetan students in external regulation, but common college students on school team have the phenomenon of weaken motives. In learning, completion, experience of excitement, the Tibetan college students of non-school team are stronger than the common non-school team college students, meanwhile, the common non-school team college students are stronger than the Tibetan college students of non-school team in investment, however, the common non-school team college students have a more significant weakening of the motives than the Tibetan students of non-school team.4. Different professions affect football participation motivation: common physical education students are stronger than the Tibetan college students in external regulation, while Tibetan physical education students are much stronger than common physical education students in learning and experience of stimulation. However, common physical education students have a more obvious phenomenon of weaken motives than the Tibetans physical education students. In the non-sports profession, Tibetan college students'experience of excitement is obviously stronger than that of common college students, but in investment and external regulation, the common college students are obviously stronger than that of Tibetan students, while common college students have a more obvious phenomenon of weaken motives than Tibetan students.
