America is a typical multinational country,the diversity and the complexity of America's race and culture can't be exceeded by other nations.However,America always adopted assimilative education policy in history.After the second world war,especially in the 1950s and the 1960s, with the rapid development of civil rights movement, people began to animadvert assimilative education policy rigorously, require the otherness of the culture and bring forward the idea of multicultural education. The multicultural education prevailed gradually in the 1970s.Teacher is the dominant factor in the process of education.If teachers don't change their teaching concept or adopt right teaching methods,the multicultural education would not achieve it's anticipative result.Therefore,the multicultural teacher education is very important in the process of multicultural education.This paper analyses the actuality of multicultural teacher education in detail,based on the analysis of America's multicultural teacher education background.Also,this paper describes two typical cases and then comments on America's multicultural teacher education.This paper has been divided into two parts.The first part is about the introduction,including the background and the significance of my research,the definition of correlative conception,the research actuality at home and abroad,the research method,the innovation and the disadvantage of my research.The second part is about the text, including four chapters.The first chapter describes the background of America's multicultural teacher education,including the multiplicity of America's society , the theory and the practice of America's multicultural education and the new request to teacher education.The second chapter analyses America's multicultural teacher education in detail,including the necessary of multicultural teacher education , the development of multicultural teacher education,the actuality of multicultural teacher education and the development trend of multicultural teacher education.The third chapter describes two typical cases:Cultural Immersion Project and The Early Childhood Equity Initiative.This paper introduces the process and effect of their multicultural teacher education,which can help us know America's multicultural teacher education at length.The fourth chapter comments on America's multicultural teacher education and learns some lessons from it.
