With the development of national revival movement in 1960s, multicultural education came into the world in the education field of western counties. After a study of many educators a large number of papers and books are emerged to reveal the disadvantages of current education system, and call for implementing multicultural education to protect the right of education of the ethnic minority students. Teachers play an important role in the process of implementation of multicultural education. Only if providing high quality teachers for the minority students, they can improve their achievement, accelerate their growth. Therefore, multicultural teacher education (MTE) have become an increasing concern and to be an important part of multicultural education.After half a century of development MTE in the US has its own characteristics. This thesis takes MTE in the US as a research target to explore the current status of it. MTE in the US focus on the training of multicultural teachers. Developing multicultural courses and teaching multi-cultural teachers the history of ethnic minorities and cultural knowledge to promote the understanding of foreign culture. Enhancing the multicultural awareness by learning how to use mixed culture to think and solve problems. Taking various measures to recruit and hire diversity teachers and expand the ranks of minority teachers. Establishing the co-operation of government, communities and schools to ensure the development of MTE.Although our country is composed of 56 nations, multicultural is not obvious. Nevertheless, the successful experiences of MTE in the US could offer some suggestions for the development of the minority teachers in our country. At present, the training of multicultural teachers should strengthen the national consciousness, develop multicultural teacher education courses, establish new training models for multicultural teachers and offer system protection for multicultural teacher education.
