The Research On The Talent Cultivation Mode Of National Southwest Associated University

Higher education in our country has completed the historical process of conversion from popular education to elite-oriented education since the late-mid 1990s of the twentieth century. With the rapid expansion of the scale of higher education, the problem between quantity and quality has become increasingly obvious, which is reflected intensively by the general decrease of educational quality, talent cultivation mode being lagged behind as well as its feeble capacity, thus could hardly adapt to our social, economic development and public demand. Especially under the circumstances that the developed countries started in succession the cultivation plans of top-grade talents so as to reserve strategical resource for the national development, we are badly short on our international influence of higher education and virtually unknown among world-class universities and top-grade talents. Therefore, building world-class universities and top disciplines as well as cultivating innovative top-grade talents is the current new pursuit. To improve comprehensively the educational quality has become an unavoidable proposition of the era for all forms of universities at all levels.The fundamental mission of higher education is to cultivate talents for the social development. The core problem of affecting the quality of talents cultivation is whether the talent cultivation mode which is consistent with the rules of education and social needs can be constructed in educational activities. refers to the mode of cultivating talents, which includes the major factors such as its target, system, process and evaluation and involves student-oriented educational activities such as teaching management, construction of teachers'team and student management. Whether it is scientific or not will directly affect the quality of cultivating the students in universities. Therefore, recent years have witnessed that the reform of talent cultivation mode has become a major concern in China's higher-education teaching reform. With the case study of NSAU which enjoys the good reputation of"a wonder in modern China's educational history", this paper analyzes deeply its talent cultivation mode so as to let past achievements shed light on the current operation. NSAU, which is short for National Southwest Associated University, founded in the Sino-Japanese War time, was then a temporary university combined by Peking, Tsinghua and Nankai. The sound of music and singing never ended during the war time. What's more, it cultivated many talents in 9 years since it was founded. Its successful experience can still provide certain reference to today's education. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part is an introduction which mainly expounds the motivation and significance of the topic, the previous and current research, main contents, the structure as well as the basic approach, thus preparing for analyzing the following parts. The second part is the analysis of the environment in which its talent cultivation mode was formed. Firstly, the relationship between NSAU and Peking, Tsinghua and Nankai as well as the historical formation of its talent cultivation mode is being combed. Secondly, through an in-depth exploration of its background of the times, its relationship with the government and the society, the external environment in which its talent cultivation mode was formed is being analyzed. Thirdly, from four respects which are conception of running college, foundation of educating students, human environment and spiritual support, the internal environment in which its talent cultivation mode was formed is being discussed. The third part elaborates its talent cultivation mode and sums up its characteristics. The fourth part states the achievements of its talent cultivation, its implications of the development of China's modern higher education as well as its inspiration to our development of higher education in the contemporary age. The research conclusions of this paper are as follows: We should be committed to the target of cultivating great talents with the agitation and collision of market and university. We should spare no effort in establishing the all-inclusive educational environment of expert-sponsoring and academic freedom.
