Being a subsidiary research on "The Reform of Guangxi Elementary Educational Curriculum", this thesis comes into being as a periodical finding of the "Study of the Guangxi high school curriculum".Basing on questionnaire and case study, and analyzing some factors affecting Guangxi high school curriculum, this thesis aims to find out the present conditions of it and perfect its system. It meets a good opportunity for us to carry out the research when the reform of elementary educational curriculum is going on all over the country. Under such conditions, the study has its realistic significance" when inquiring the general pattern of Guangxi high school curriculum, and constructing a kind of theoretic mode to illustrate the problems appeared in the reform. The study would be practical in finding out the system of it, and making out new strategies for the present Guangxi high school curriculum; it could be worthy of being consulted for setting up Theories of Curriculum and Theories of High School Education. So far in the present documents, there is still not substantial study on a systematic description and analysis of the conditions of high school curriculum; and there is not objective, basis and authoritative ones except the sense and impression of some people. The aim of this thesis is to analyze and discuss the issue basing on the result of fact-findings, which is as well as the characteristic of this thesis.The data used in this paper come from the result of fact-findings. The data were collected in two ways. One is by filling questionnaire to collect quantitative data; the other is through case study to obtain qualitative data. The former is the major way. Thus, this paper is based on questionnaire conducted respectively among 449 Grade One and Grade Two high school students, high school teachers of each grade in seven areas: Nanning city, Dongxing city, Longzhou county, Longan county, Tianyang county, Tongshui county, Longsheng county in September 2000. In addition, we selected one high school as the object of case study, and described its process of reform. It means to afford valuable experience and lessons for those schools that intend to carry out the reform.The main conclusion of this paper is that the reform of Guangxi high school curriculum must be carried out. Its defects appear as followings:1 .Too voluntary and concentrate on enrollment quotas to break away from the social development.2. The unbalance of its contents and construction leads to the uneven of all-round development of students.The defects in contents and construction appear in four aspects:(1) A narrow scope of knowledge, and asking for too much;(2) Out-of-date textbooks;(3) Unreasonable curriculum construction, and lacking elastics;(4) Occupying too many periods.3.One-way teaching results in the loss of bilateral subject consciousness.4.Single way of curriculum evaluation is the excitation mechanism of education for examination.5 .The lagging of curriculum administration and construction of teachers' quality results in the failure ofcarrying out the curriculum policy which issued by the upper authorities.However, we see the existential prerequisite when carrying out the reform. The ideas and awareness of the school and teachers are developing towards the right direction; the students of Guangxi high school have strong ability in studying independently and willingly, which doesn't lose behind the high schools of the other regions in our country.Subjection of the thesis is that the system of Guangxi high school curriculum should be carried out in the following aspects:1 .It should emphasize the entirety of the curriculum object. 2.It should emphasize the practices in the curriculum content. 3.It should be alternative in the curriculum construction. 4.1t should emphasize the communication in the class. 5.It should practice the multivariate curriculum evaluation.6.
