Learning strategies has been a hot question in the research of pedagogic psychology research recently. It is an important and essential factor for learning abilities. Lately, the learning abilities of polytechnic school students are obviously on the decline. There are many reasons, but more or less relating to the lack of the guide of learning strategies, because the students' learning process is the process of applying learning strategies. In medical secondary schools, chemistry is offered at the first semester for fresh students. Therefore, to emphasize the guide of learning strategies in chemistry teaching has potential guiding significance for the further study in later years. It can urge students to master basic learning strategies and to adjust their own learning according to the specific learning circumstances so as to adapt themselves to study rapidly, thus laying a good foundation for later courses and future education. This paper, first and foremost, expounds the connotations and classification of learning strategies, arguing that learning strategies include cognitive strategies, metacognitive strategies and resource management strategies. Then it analyzes the necessity and importance of emphasizing the guide of learning strategies on the basis of the aspects of the current existing problems, life-time education and the main position of students, and the requirement of quality education for chemistry teaching. According to contemporary cognitive psychology and the result of practical study of learning strategies teaching, this paper goes on to expound and prove the possibility and validity of learning strategies teaching. After pointing out the general requirement of learning strategies teaching, it mainly explores the specific practice of chemistry teaching in medical schools, such as cultivating students' cognitive strategies to promote the effective processing of information, cultivating metacognitive strategies to make sure that the cognitive strategies plays an efficient role, cultivating resources management strategies to bring factors of non-intelligence into play and perfect learning strategies and so on. This paper also analyzes the effect after executing the guide of learning strategies and puts forward several problems we should pay attention to in executing learning strategies education.
