At present, the quality of distance education has been paid more attention by the society, to this question, the author considers that not only students are the core of distance education, but also they are the best representatives to embody the quality of distance education, if we can explore the differences and characteristics of the students who participate in distance learning, and evaluate them in a useful and scientific way, they definitely can ensure and enhance the quality of distance education in great extent. (Chapter1)In contrast with traditional education, distance education has taken great changes, in practice, distance education takes a great innovation and reformation in delivery modes and learning modes. In theory, distance education takes constructivist theory as its theory basis. To realize the individualization of students, the theory emphasis that the students should be the core in the whole learning activities and put themselves into the learning process positively. Therefore, distance education has its own characteristics. (chapter2&3)Based on such changes, the author considers the way we evaluate the students in distance education should be different with the wayoin traditional education. In this chapter, we try to find an effective way to evaluate the students in a distance education environment according to analyze the characteristics of distance learning and the characteristics of the students themselves. By the means of seeking the facts that have great impacts on learning results, we conclude them and construct a student evaluation system. (Chapter 3, 4&5)Based on the evaluation system, the author takes a survey to evaluate the students participating in distance learning, in theprocess of organization, implementation and analysis of the data in practice, we confirm the way we evaluate the students in distance education environment is reasonable and feasible, it has a great significance and accords with the demands of modern education. (Chapter 5&6)In final chapter, a description about the problems on this research has been presented. At last, the author makes a prospect for the development on students evaluation in distance education in the future. (Chapter 7)...
