Since the protruding environmental problems are increasingly emerging in China presently and arousing rather stern ecological situations, thus, to foster and intensify the environmental protection awareness throughout the country have been updated to the very urgent agenda. In view of this, the Ministry of Education has put forward a prompt policy of "Environmental Protection by Putting Education First" which calls for listing the corresponding education in environment as one item of the primary and secondary curricula. What we speak of the environment is generally referred to the human environment which takes an aggregate comprising both natural and social environments. As it's true that human and environment hold a regular relationship of opposition but integration, the rapid economic and social development actually has brought about a succession of damages and hazards on environment, however, meanwhile, the consequent severe environmental challenges have in turn threw a negative impact on human life. It's self-evident for the importance of implementing the education in environment which proves its necessity by the national strategy ofbringing such an education into our "sustainable development". To put it into practice well, to absorb the education in environment into the subject teaching concerned will be respected as a feasible and effective teaching concept. In consideration of Chinese as a subject characteristic of wide coverage and strong humanities, besides giving Chinese courses for moral, aesthetic and personality education, we shall explore indepth the contents related to environment contained in our Chinese textbooks to conduct the environmental and ecological education, which cannot be neglected being a great channel in this regard. In so doing, discrepancy formerly existent between Chinese teaching and education in environment can be changed largely in an efficient manner. It's known to all that during the teaching process, teachers act as the executors of the whole education program whose quality plays a vital role in educational results. As far as the implementation of education in environment is concerned, transforming teaching concept, highlighting teachers' training system and teachers' personal commitment and devotion all lay much guarantee on this cause. In classroom teaching, when guided to experience the fine scenery out of textbooks and gain spiritual satisfaction from pretty environment, students shall be asked to combine the environmental status quo and through a comparative thinking be given rise to a spontaneous awareness of environmental protection. In way of composition teaching, students shall be introduced to pay more attention to environment and to describe the surroundings with a purpose of leading their participation in activities of environmental protection. Taking advantage of Chinese teaching, students will be allowed to touch more nature outside classrooms and to have opportunities for practical appreciation of environmental realities with the eyes and minds of their own. Concurrently, students shall also be encouraged to do relevant investigation and analyses which cultivate them in environmental awareness and inquiring enthusiasm and improve the subject learning ability as well. In a word, absorbing the education in environment into the Chinese teaching will eventually serve the educational goal of competence-oriented pattern and help create more talents comprehensively equipped with in an embodiment of substantial value of our education.
