Mathematics education should absorb nourishment from history of mathematics to enrich mathematical teaching and learning. On the basis of the inspiration from HPM's research and the knowledge of modernization of mathematics education, we make history of mathematics as a visual angle to study modernization of mathematics education. In theory and practice ways, the supplementary relationship between mathematical history and modernization of mathematics education is expounded: For one thing, mathematical history can realize the modernization of mathematics education when it goes into the field of mathematics education; in other words, modernization of mathematics education needs mathematical history. From the other side, mathematical history needs modernized mathematics teaching and the modernization of mathematics education.To scrutinize modernization of mathematics education from the visual angle of mathematical history, the concept of mathematics education must be updated with the help of ideas, such as "mathematics is a kind of culture", "mathematics education is an education of mathematics culture"; while as the carrier of mathematics culture, mathematical history may advance the modernization of mathematics education. It also demonstrates a method of filtering the mathematics culture in practice, that is to say, through historical material of mathematics students may experience the charm of mathematics culture. Modernization of mathematics education requires a deepened and expanded education aim, so the aim may consist of some demands like knowledge and skill, capability, attitude, sensibility and sense of worth; international field of vision and the knowledge of multi-culture. In the reform process of the mathematics curriculum, history of mathematics may be presented in many ways, such as in mathematics textbook, mathematics reading books, optional course and subject research. In mathematics curriculum the core value of mathematical history is to foster students' consciousness of innovation and ability of creation. Without the requirement of innovation and creation, there will not be modernization. It also gives prominence to the dominant action of mathematical history in the modernization progress of mathematics education. Moreover, modernization of mathematics education also requires that some aspects, such as the education principle, evaluate means^ and teacher training ought to be different from the traditional ones. Based on above-mentioned knowledge about history of mathematics and modernization of mathematics education, design and choose some teaching cases, in third section some snatches of these teaching cases or the idea frames are mentioned These teaching cases illustrate that the practice of mathematics education needs mathematics education workers to read all kinds of different stuffs, unearth thoroughly the value in the stuff, filter them comprehensively in every step of mathematics education, and employ mathematical history reasonably and effectively. So to speak, employing mathematical history creatively in mathematics teaching can also conduce to carrying forward modernization of mathematics education.Finally, it is pointed out in the follow-up research we may lay stress on the comprehensive utilizations of manifold research means to combine speculative study with empirical study, blend the quantitative research with qualitative research, and link theory with practice. Some problems are worthy of our attention in future research of modernization of mathematics education. Among them are how history of mathematics effects teaching though "Latent curriculum", how to bring teachers' creativity into play in the reform ofmathematics curriculum and mathematics teaching, etc.
