This text devotes itself to the history of the development of Japanese teacher education. This article includes three parts.Chapter one is about the establishment and development of Japanese normal education in modern times (1872~World War Two). This part has an exhaustive review of the history of the development of Japanese normal education. The major points covered in this section are: ancient Japanese teacher-training the establishment of normal education and its consolidation. Through this review, we can clearly comprehend the development orbit of Japanese normal education. At the same time, the author also summarizes the contribution made by normal education to Japanese society during various periods. Normal education also exposes its shortcomings and malpractice when time goes by.Chapter two is about the development of teacher education of the contemporary age(1945-1978). This part mainly discusses the switch of teacher education from following the model of America period to the self-examination period. When talking about the period when the teacher-training system tries to follow the American model the author expounds the change from a close model to an open one and the measures taken to safeguard the system, including: a series of Americanizing measures during American occupation period, for example: an open system for teacher-training, teacher's certificate system, the promulgation of a public servant special law on system education etc. The author also summarizes the merits and defects of the open teacher-training system and points out the reasons why defects produce. The teacher-training during self-examination period combines the actual situation of Japan and the teacher-training during the period of following the American model, making the Japanese system of teacher's education go native. Basing on a self-reflection of the teacher-training during the period of following the American model, the Japanese education organs has taken a series of measures tofacilitate his process of going native.Chapter three is about the perfection of the contemporary teacher education. This part mainly discusses how to overcome its defects and shortcomings with the open teacher-training system which are founded when time goes by. It mainly analyses from the following perspectives: the period of upgrading the teacher's quality and the period of striving for the new tendency of the teacher-training integration.Chapter four, the author summarizes the experiences and lessons of Japanese teacher education through the examination of the historical development of its teacher education.
