Chinese Course Standard -the edition on probation stipulates that - " the unity of instrumentality and humanism is the basic characteristics of language courses; and that language courses should pay great attention to the formation and development of students' Chinese accomplishment which is the basis of the students' studying other courses , and is also the basis of all-round and lifelong development." Therefore, in this new-round educational reform ,how we will give full play to Chinese teaching superiority, and how will we lay a firm foundation for the students' all-round and lifelong development? The author, after years' practical teaching and research, draws a conclusion that : Successful contemporary prose teaching can foster the students' faithful attitude to life, and can teach students how to use the language basically and proficiently , can also enrich students' humanism and it plays an important role in forming students' better individuality and perfect personality.But the contemporary prose teaching is facing the challenge forthe pattern teaching, prose teaching plays less role in Chinese teaching. In the paper, the author probes into effective methods in the prose teaching on the basis of characteristic charm of prose and on the basis of the problems in the prose teaching . The paper is made up of four parts:Part One Introduction: In this part, the author inquires into and puts forward to the significance of the thesis from the head objective of Chinese Course and the characteristics of contemporary prose, and gives the concepts of the prose, Chinese education and the teaching methods.Part Two What is the charm of the contemporary prose? In this part, the author illustrates the distinctive functions of the contemporary prose in the middle school Chinese teaching form inside and outside sincerity and the beauty of the language .Part Three In this part, the author analyses the pattern phenomena in the prose teaching and puts forward to weakening pattern teaching and returning to its sincerity.Part Four In this part, the author probes into the teaching methods in accordance with the problems in the prose teaching .
