The thesis regards history teaching in rural junior middle schools of Yongdeng County, Gansu Province as the research object. Having adopted such scientific research approaches as questionnaire investigation, interview, classroom observation, document retrieval, etc, the author has made an investigation and analysis on the current situation and existent problems of history teaching in the rural junior middle schools of Yongdeng County. Furthermore, conclusions and countermeasures of certain practical and theoretical meaning have been presented in the thesis.The thesis consists of the following three parts:Part one: Introduction .In this part the writer gives a detailed description of the background and the current situation of research on history teaching, and exhibits the significance of this research .Besides the selection of research method and the process of the research are other important information in this part.Part two: Investigation Results and the Analysis on it .In this part the author sets out to analyze the investigation result .The analysis is made from the setting up of course ,teacher groups, the teaching activity between students and teachers, evaluation on teaching, teachers' researching and further education ,etc. Because of the huge influence of examination-oriented education ,many people still believer that history is a " minor " course and look down upon it in rural junior middle schools ; Because most of the history teachers are temporary and the professional history teachers have no intention of developing in their specialty , the quality of history teachers in rural junior middle schools is limited .Therefore , they can't undertake the new requirement of quality-oriented education ; The rigidity of examination system makes history teaching in rural middle schools deviate from the general target - human spiritual education and become the teaching ofscore-oriented , it also makes students' history learning become dull recite and memory ,students can't feel the pleasure of learning and can't study well .In the poverty-stricken areas the reality of the large numbers of students wanting to "escape from village" make the exam-oriented education idea own the mighty vitality, so there is much difficulty in promoting the quality-oriented education.Part three: The countermeasures to strengthen history teaching inrural junior middle schools. On the above-mentioned conclusions , the thesis puts forward the following four countermeasures : First ,We should make people understand the irreplaceable function of history teaching in quality-oriented education from every aspects ,and make history teachers perform their duty proudly and consciously ; Second , We should improve ways of educational evaluation vigorously and give full play to action of guidance and encouragement of evaluation ; Third ,We should improve the historical teachers' professional ethics feasibly and encourage them improving the structure of knowledge and strengthening the idea of educational research ,so that they can improve ways of education by sticking out the main-part position of students ; Fourth , We should bring governmental function into full play , set up a history education system inside and outside campus ,put more funds on history education and give impetus to the development of history education.
