Under the new historical term, the employment mechanism for university graduates has been transferred from the traditional "centralized enrollment and centralized placement" to the current "two-side choice" practice. The reform in the university graduates' employment system has brought about at once numerous opportunities and endless challenges for university students, so how to make full use of university graduates under the market economy system has been a realistic issue before us. In this thesis, the author intends to make an analysis of current university graduates' employment and the possible means to deal with it by education, and of the measures to better their employment condition so as to present some theoretical and practical proofs for the reasonable disposition of university graduates. The author, from his analysis of the employment condition of university graduates in recent years, holds that current university graduates as well as those in the few years to come are faced with great pressure from employment. To be specific, the following can be considered the advantageous aspects for their employment: the absolute number of graduates' employment has been more and more year by year, the placement of graduates has been more and more reasonable, more graduates are willing to go to basic units and the western region, and more students take part in postgraduate entrance examination. On the other hand, disadvantageous aspects of graduates' employment can be seen in the following: the rate of employment has lowered, dropouts have been more than ever before, and there have been differences in employment owing to difference in specialties, degrees, universities, genders, family backgrounds and the distribution of graduates in different regions as well.Such factors analyzed, the author points out four possible causes of current university graduates' employment condition. From the social perspective, this is owing to the social and economic conditions, the negative effects from the spontaneous regulation in the market economy, employment pressure from the society as a whole, the enlargement of higher education, the unruly practice in enlisting graduates, and the graduates' employment channel being far from smooth. From the perspective of institutions of higher learning, the set-up of specialties lags behind the need of the society, so does the infrastructure with the enlargement of enrollment, the guide to employment tendency is inadequate and so is the education in employment. From the perspective of families, such an occupational expectation as "those who study well can be officials" and such an expectation from the prospective occupation as "the higher, the cost, the higher, and the return" are still predominant. In addition, for graduates themselves, they have some unpractically psychological factors in job-hunting and their disadvantages in their own quality. The solution to university graduates' employment is a comprehensive task, which requires the joint efforts from the government, the society, the family, the institution of higher learning and university students themselves. Based on his own experience, the author puts forward some possible means to deal with it by education: to further the reform in higher education, to enhance the competitive ability of university students in job-hunting, to strengthen political and ideological education of university students, to rectify the view of employment for graduates, to strengthen the guide to graduates, to better graduates' capacity for job-hunting, to better the information system for; graduates' employment, and to smooth the channel of employment for university graduates.
