Shanghai's secondary vocational and technical school education has benefiteda great deal from China's reform and opening policy during the past 20 years, andthese vocational and technical schools with their trained graduates have contributed alot to the social and economic development of Shanghai. With the development ofmarket economy and with the resulting tendency of increasing job divisions andeducational pluralism, vocational and technical education is now faced with variouschallenges and pressures, and it has plummeted into a slow development stage. Manythings await being done to change the current situation, but where shall we begin?Among all the challenges and pressures, intellectual education and morality trainingseem to be the two fundamental areas that need to be tackled at the same time.Research and practice prove that permeation of moral education implementedin English teaching possesses profound and multiple significance. Firstly, it givesconsideration to both intellectual education and morality training. Secondly, it greatlyenhances secondary vocational and technical school students'political and ideologicalconsciousness, advocating their moralities and psychological qualities. Thirdly, ithelpfully fosters their effective habitual learning and encourages them to be moresuccessful and more self-confident, improving their abilities to work and exist. Finally,it embodies the spirit of quality education, opening up a new area of how differentschool subjects can be integrated. Many experts at home and abroad have explored the features and regularitiesof English teaching and moral education, which effectively guide the current practice. But unluckily, it's not frequently practiced to explore the theme of how to permeatemorality education in secondary vocational and technical school English teaching. This thesis is divided into four parts to probe into the permeation of moraleducation in English teaching at secondary vocational and technical schools. Part Onefocuses on the background introduction to show the necessity of the theme. Part Twostresses some related essential laws, principles, distinguishing features, methods andcontents of teaching English as well as moral educational permeation, strengtheningthe idea of theory-guided practice , and thus giving strong backing to the next part.
