The research object of this thesis is about the trace of the developing history of the secondary vocational and technical education in China. Firstly, It gives a general description of developing history of the secondary VET in China .And its purpose is to demonstrate developing trace of the secondary VET in the past 15 years.The whole developing history can be divided into three stages: The shaping of the frameworks for the reform of the secondary educational structure and the secondary VET (19852000). The development of SVTE in the reform (19911998). The challenges and the new opportunities for the developing of the SVTE(19992000).The finst part of this thesis chronologically gives the outline of developing history of SVTE in the past 15 years, centered on the major factors constituting the VTE.Here are these factors: The significant documents and measures on SVTE issued by the National education departments The developing of the SVTE scale The changes in the operating mechanism of VTE system The construction of the teaching staff in the VTE The situation concerning the training objectives,the placement of majors,curriculum and instruction reform The achievements of the research in the field of VTEThe second part focuses on analying the reasons why VTE in China developing in such a way mentioned in the first part of this thesis . It probes how these factors mentioned above affect the development of SVTE in the past 15 years in the background of economic ,cultural and scientific technology development. All these analysis help us to have a clearer and better understanding of the developing history.The last but not the least,on the basis of the description and analysis,I make great efforts to have found some implications, for the SVTE brought by the impending age of the knowledge economy.
