With the development of school PE history, the role of PE teachers has changed. Underdifferent historical conditions, the criterion of the role differs from the expectation of the role.Nevertheless, they are fundamentally the result of the co-operation of social economy andculture.At present, while China's curriculum reform of elementary education is on march like araging fire, the role of PE teachers is given its new meaning by the new age . There used to beseveral problems during the implementation of the new curriculum in high schools, such asthe low attainments of teachers, the dim consciousness of teaching roles, poor combinationbetween the exchange of teaching roles . Accordingly, by resorting to all kinds of methods including reference analytical method ,questionnaire survey , induction and deduction and experts interview as well as combininganthropology with the theory of structuralism and interaction , the author makes a fullanalysis about the peculiarity of PE teachers to discuss the error and the imbalance , the causeand the effect of the role of traditional PE teachers by means of studying the differencesbetween the Chinese PE and Western one, adjusting the new orientation of the roles of theteachers guided by "the curriculum standard of gym and heath". The author also expatiatesthat a PE teacher should be a builder of certain situations ,a expatiator , a negotiator, aco-worker ,a leader ,a developer of curriculum resources and an organizer concerning therelationship between knowledge , the development of students , teaching conditions ,andcourses. Finally the author puts forward that the role of PE teachers should be changed from"teaching " to "cultivating "on the premise of the full-combination of the roles of PE teachers.
