To study the transformational leadership behaviors and its effectiveness of leaders of sport organizations in college, this paper investigated 45 athletic director (or rector) and their 618 subordinates of 50 universities, coming from 12 provinces and 2 municipalities.The measurement of transformational leadership behavior was explored by using the modified Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ-5x), which includes 4 dimensions: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration. The measurement of transformational leadership effectiveness was explored by 3 MLQ-5x accessory effect variables : subordinate perceived leader's effectiveness, subordinate's satisfaction for leadership, subordinate's extra effort. To verify the structure of transformational leadership, the relationship between transformational leadership behavior and leadership effectiveness, Confirmatory Factor Analysis( CFA), Correlational and Multivariate Regression Analyses were used, with the help of the statistical of SPSS11.5 and LIREL8.3.The main conclusions include 2 aspects. The first is the structure of transformational leadership brought forward by Bass is supported in the sport organizations of college in China. Transformational leadership is a 4 dimensions structure which includes idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration. The second is idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration had direct effects on subordinate perceived leader's effectiveness and subordinate's extra effort. But there were not statistically significant relationships between subordinate's satisfaction for leader and inspirational motivation, else was individualized consideration.
