For a long time, the field of leadership is dominated by male worldwide. Even in schools where most of the employees are female, leaders' positions like headmasters are still taken by male. Gender imbalance in leadership makes study of gender difference such a hot topic. As researches continued, some experts pointed out women leaders showed more transformational leadership traits than men leaders, which can better met the change of time and the needs of organizations. Such view provided a new angle for us to re-examine the gender difference in leadership, while in view of the particularity of school situation, it is still uncertain whether the assumption is suitable for principals.Based on that, this research starts from the core ideas of transformational leadership theory, and puts forward the hypothesis of sexual differences in principles on the basis of the existing researches analyses. In the further study, a male principal named A and a female principal named B are chosen as case studies. And through the comparative analysis of them, the study finds that:1. In the perspective of transformational leadership theory, gender difference does exist in leadership, and this difference is also existed on principals;2. Male principals and Female principals behave differently in different dimensions of transformational leadership, and women overall show a stronger tendency of transformational leadership than their male counterparts especially in "Individualized Consideration" dimension and "Charisma" dimension;3. Gender difference of principals are influenced by personal factors such as incentives to achievement, self-assessment, family responsibilities and social factors like cultural traditions, stereotypes and policies, etc. Therefore to optimize the gender structure of principal group and promote the leadership of headmistress, this study suggests, all the relevant departments should work together to reshape the equality of social culture; a more reasonable president selection system should be built and more attention should be taken to the cultivation of female principals; collective advantages of female principals should be exploited by building female mutual platform; female principals themselves should overcome the negative mentality and improve their personal abilities; female principals' family members' should show them more understandings and cares.
