Wu yannan is a famous educator in Guizhou. He had many original views in the aspects of middle school historical education, as to the character of the historical lesson, the historical teaching methods and the historical teacher's quality so on. He thought that the historical lessons in the middle school was a political lessons, he considered that the historical education in the middle school should promote to inspire teaching methods and request students to overcome the formalism existing in their historical knowledge. And he suggested that the teaching aid should be fully used of and the teaching material should be deeply studied. The history teachers in middle school must have the quality of the scientific researches, and prepare lessons well, the contact between theory and action, and the classroom review so on. In the aspects of education for undergraduates, he had put forward much important ideas such as ideological and political education is a premise in education for undergraduates, to increase undergraduates'synthesize character is valid path. Teaching material construction is an important measure to enhance teaching quality, etc. In the aspects of graduate education, he claimed that it should persist the guidance of Marxism, looking "development complete"and innovation as education objective, value ability‐training of students in science researches, and put the style of "walking out, coming in"in the practice. In the aspects of university management, he thought that the communist leading function should be brought into playing fully, the management style of university should be reformed, the exaltation of the ability of learning and teaching quality in university should be put into centering position, the research work in university should be valued enough. His education thought has many characteristics, for instance, keeping pace with the time, innovating, to value the research work, teaching according to students'characteristics, thinking highly praise on action, claiming the study for the sake of application, valuing intelligence development in village, etc. His education thought has very important influence and very high position in modern educational history in Guizhou. The study of Wu Yannan's education thought not only has great value to academic, but also has practical significance.
