Being towards school-based curriculum and emphasizing the school-basedcurriculum development come to be the main concern of Chinese curriculum reform.The diversity of modern society and the increasing social reform ask for such learnerswho are creative of particle abilities on one hand and such education that meets thesocial requirements on learners on the other. On the premise of the quality of educationon the whole, schools should also admit each student to develop. Thus how to deal withthe relationship between the development of integration and that of the speciality andhow to reform Chinese teaching to meet the social requirements become the importantissues that Chinese teaching has to face and solve. Chinese should adjust the structuresof curriculum, expand the dimensions of students'choice of studying, and come to forma flexible mechanism of practice so as to cope with the new challenge of our times.National curriculum emphasizes unity and basicity but ignores flexibility anddiversity so that it cannot meet the demand of students'development effectively.School-based curriculum stresses diversity and speciality. Curriculum design takes intoconsideration the different demands of schools, teachers and students; the contents ofcurriculum also takes into accounts the experiences and spaces of students in their dailylives, which can better adapt to the various specialities of schools and students. Toestablish the different systems of Chinese school-based curriculum and curriculumchoices will offer an opportunity for the all-round and special development, expand thespace of Chinese studies, and make the curriculum system more developed in favor oftotal function to be revealed. The development of and research on the school-basedcurriculum of oral communication, as the central part of the chinese school-basedcurriculum system, are based on the theories of school-based curriculum and fulfilled inaccordance with its oral nature characteristic. The mode of "language and wordageapplication"in Selective Curriculum in Experimental Curriculum Norm of Chinese ofCommon High School proposed such requirements to improve oral ability in practice tobe able to choose appropriate occasions and topics and to communicate properly againstvarious communicative needs, to attend lectures and arguments and to preside assemblyand performances. Based on the predecessors'research, the thesis analyzed theoretically thedevelopment of Chinese school-based curriculum of oral communication and offers thedevelopment direction and operation procedures of curriculum development so as togive some guidance to Chinese school-based curriculum development from theory topractice. The thesis consists of four parts. Part One illustrates the theoretical and practicalsignificance of school-based curriculum development of oral communication.School-based curriculum development of oral communication meets the requirement ofchanging Chinese teaching actualities; it is a challenge for Chinese teaching and is ofphilosophical, subjects'theoretical and teaching theoretical base. In addition, curriculumshould manifest the "mouth-mind accordance"and "process interactivity"naturecharacteristics of oral communication. Part Two gives emphasis to the theoretical construction of the content ofschool-based curriculum of oral communication. The aim of designing curriculumdevelopment and establishing curriculum content is to develop students'intelligenceand non-intelligence by means of curriculum development and to pay attention tostudents'affection, attitude and value while improving their oral communicative ability. Part Three states how to design school-based curriculum development of oralcommunication, which includes the design of curriculum content choices and thecurriculum operation strategy. The part further analyzes the principle of the design ofcurriculum content choices, the construction of class teaching mode, the organization ofcurriculum content and the oral communication curriculum operation strategy.
