Today, we are stepping into an era with characteristics of the rapid growth of information, which is called "Information Technology Era". In this era, information is becoming an extremely important factor in many aspects of society. What's more, informationization has become a worldwide trend of the social and economic development of the whole world. The information literacy is an integral part of people's whole literacy in the information society, and the cultivation of information literacy affects this basic point: How do people base themselves upon the information society? Higher vocational education is one important part of higher education. Higher vocational education has close relationship with the development of modern economy. The mission of higher vocational is cultivating a great number of well-trained technicians and managers who had practical skills and good information literacy. In order to meet the challenge of this society, vocational college teachers must shoulder the responsibility for the cultivation of students' ability to obtain and filter information rapidly, to discriminate kinds of information accurately, and to work on and process information creatively. These abilities are of equal information and lifetime benefit to students as the basic ability to read, write and calculate. It is quite necessary for vocational college teachers to promote their information literacy. It's out of question, a vocational college teacher should have a better information literacy than the students'.This thesis consists of four parts. The first part deal with the theoretic and practical significance of the information literacy cultivation, through discussing the background, conception and necessity of it, furthermore, bring up a standards of vocational college teachers after questionnaire between vocational college teachers and university teachers in information literacy , The second part is an investigation on the statues in quo of the information literacy of vocational college teachers in Wuxi. The third part discusses how to improve the information literacy of vocational college teachers in three factors. The fourth part is an presentation of the practice and achievement of Wuxi vocational Institute of Commercial Technology.
