Research On The Validity Of Legal Education Of Higher Vocational Colleges

With the education innovation in China, higher vocational education has developed very quickly. Document demonstrates that the number of students enrolled by higher vocational colleges has increased from 430,000 to 2,374,300 and the number of on-campus students has increased from 1,170,000 to 5,956,500 from 1998 to 2004. As the high-level talents and socialist successors of China, the college students cultivated by higher vocational colleges are not only the backbone of China's modernization construction but also the new power of constructing the country by socialist laws, bearing the hope of China Therefore, the level of college students' legal idea and capability will impact our procedure of governing the country with law and constructing socialist country with adequate legal system during the new time. Regarding to the increase of crime rate in college students, legal education lacks validity. Because higher vocational college students have their own characteristics, it's significant for us to study the validity of legal education on higher vocational college students.The paper is composed of 5 parts.The first part is introduction. It introduces the significance of studying the legal education in higher vocational colleges, literature review, problems and research methods.The second part introduces the connotation, characteristics and significance of legal education of higher vocational colleges. According to some related rules and regulations, this part firstly defines the meaning of legal education of higher vocational colleges, which means that propagandizing legal knowledge to citizens in different ways, making them master legal knowledge as well as strengthening their idea of obeying the laws and behaving according to the laws to form an excellent habit. Then it introduces the characteristics of legal education of higher vocational colleges, compared with law education, legal education of common universities and legal education on common citizens. Finally, it elaborates on six aspects of the significance of advancing the legal education of higher vocational colleges: the need of realizing socialist country run by laws;the need of cultivating comprehensive talents by higher vocational colleges;the need of developing and perfecting socialist market economy;the need of constructingsocialist ethical or spiritual values;the need of constructing socialist political values;broadening the opening policy as well as enhancing international economic and cultural cooperation.The third part is the questionnaire showing the legal education of higher vocational colleges lacks validity. The phenomenon embodies the following five aspects. First, most V students identify the significance of laws in their daily life, but their level of knowing legal knowledge and being cultivated are incomparable. Second, they lack legal idea and don't form legal habit. Third, they pay attention to Chinese legal construction but lack of confidence to the status of legal system. Forth, the restriction of morality is stronger than that of laws and respect for laws hasn't been established. Fifth, there is distance between teaching content and methods and the students' expectation.The forth part presents an analysis of the five main reasons why legal education validity of the students in higher vocational colleges is weak: the policy orientation of legal education of higher vocational colleges;the unfitness between education content and social needs;poor teaching methods of legal education of higher vocational colleges;poor running condition and incapability of the teacher of legal education as well as the bad effect of colleges' environment and surroundings.The fifth part presents the strategies of how to advance the validity of legal education of higher vocational colleges as: all levels of government departments paying great attention to legal education, improving capability of the teachers pursuing the legal education, improving teaching materials and methods, applying advanced teaching methods, offering excellent environment to the legal education as well as online legal education.
