Enquiry activities are introduced into the curriculum reform and given much emphasis in modern teaching. And enquiry learning is the most important of all.The idea of enquiry learning was advocated by J.J. Sehwab, a famous scientist and professor in Chicago University in the middle of the 20th century. The idea has a fundamental motion of equality, opening, democracy which consist of the continual education. Enquiry learning is both a method and process in which students gain motivation, knowledge structure and the methods of solving problems. It helps the students gain creativity and practical capability.Enquiry learning has its own special features accomplished through all kinds of attractive activities in which students can improve their potential, activeness, creativity, and it can also help them to learn with pleasure. Some of the activities are presented as group-study, brain-storm and role-play. All these activities lead enquiry learning be important way of learning Chinese.Enquiry learning can be greatly improved if used in Chinese teaching. The key point in this article is to apply the method to Chinese teaching in primary schools. The article illustrates theoretically the reason why to adopt enquiry learning . It also makes a research about the appliance of the theory in Chinese teaching in primary schools.Enquiry teaching has been paid special attention to in modern teaching reform. But how to apply it to Chinese teaching in primary schools ? The article gives much emphasis on writing, reading, composition, literacy and oral communication teaching with the practice. At last, the article ends with the relationship between enquiry learning and Chinese teaching in primary school.
