With the arrival of an era of knowledge-driven economy and information explosion, students of our country educated in the traditional way are becoming unable to survive the fierce competition. This kind of situation forces us to carry on reconsidering the traditional education, updating education idea and changing the education way. In the author's opinion, innovation education aimed at developing students' creativity should be carried out so as to meet the needs of social development.After studying the characteristics of physics teaching in the middle school as well as relevant principles of the educational psychology and the theory of innovation education, the author is to deal with several aspects in this article, including the concept of innovation education, the necessity and possibility of cultivating students' creativity in the middle school physics teaching. Furthermore, the author is to state the goal, the means and the methods of improving students' creativity. Finally, the author is to share his attempts and experience in the middle school physics teaching with the colleagues.
