Secondary school education is the foundation of innovation education. Its focus should be laid oncultivating students’ spirit of innovation by making use of what they have mastered to create new ideas.cultivating students’ spirit of innovation is the only way to achieve the transition from exam-orientededucation to quality education.Currently, secondary students in China are facing restrictions in innovative education. First, pressureof entering a higher school. Either in junior middle school or in senior middle school, the main goal ofstudents is to enter a better higher school after graduation. Exam score is the major standard to evaluate astudent. Second, insufficient evaluation system. The current evaluation system in China is still Sanhaostudent (the three good student: good in study, attitude and health), and being good in study is put in thefirst place. Innovative spirit is not even mentioned. Third, a lack of good learning environment, whichincludes environment crated by the school, the family and the society. Students’ spirit of innovation needsintegrated support from the three parts mentioned above.Jiang Zemin once pointed out,“Innovation is the spirit and power of a nation”, which proves theimportance of innovative spirit. In order to cultivate middle school students’ spirit of innovation, we haveto advocate new teaching model, which emphasizes the subject position of the student and the guidingfunction of the teacher; enrich the evaluation system; and build better learning environment with the helpfrom shools, families and the society so as to encourage students to be brave in making innovations andachieve their integrated development.
