During the three years, I've made a research in the theory of math research study for junior music-major students in class, with the help of teaching experiences and knowledge of the music-major class reality. It is also to apply to the need of reform in junior math teaching, arouse students' enthusiasms for math learning, and cultivate new-century musical personnel. The exploration aims at the suitable research-study teaching methods and patterns for junior music-major class, which affords an effective approach for the reform of teaching in specialist classes.The thesis is composed of five parts. In the first part it analyses the necessity of research-study teaching methods in junior music-major classes. The next expounds the connotation, features, purpose and the theoretical proof. In the third, the emphasis is lied on the practical process. The principles and the model which includes situation making, question raising—self exploration, mutual learning—discussion, conclusion drawing—new knowledge using, development and creation—rethinking and refining are put forward. According to this model, there are four different cases that are explained how to practice in reality. In the forth part, the evaluation principles, methods, standards and the considerationon the research study practice are brought into discussion. The conclusion and the future are in the fifth part. Research study in music-major classes arouses students' interest in math study, improves the learning strategy, and cultivates students' creativity and practical ability. As another result, teaching methods are changed as well.
