This paper presents my study in teaching design in exploratory experiment in biological course in junior high school. In respect to developing students' competence in experiment designing and observation, typical cases are selected for the analytical objective and teaching practice has been conducted. This paper is organized as folios: Part I introduces the background and significance of the study;Part II reviews the theoretical origin of the inquiry experiment design;Part III presents design cases and analysis in inquiry experiment teaching;Part IV demonstrates the reading of evaluation formula in the inquiry experiment teaching.Firstly from the perspective of the concept, essential elements and type of biology experiment, and on the basis of comparison of the features between inquiry experiment and testing experiment, it is pointed out that significant distinctions can be observed in researching experiment teaching. At the same time, the situation in biological course teaching in China, especially in Hunan Province, has been analyzed. It is argued, in this paper that, in comparison with testing experiment, inquiry experiment has the following features: 1) inquiry experiment focuses more on students' learning process and the illustration of their conclusion;2) inquiry experiment develops students' scientific study method, creative thinking and values;3)the contents of inquiry experiment derive either from books or from practical life;4) inquiry experiment greatly contributes to interaction between students and teachers, interaction among students, which broadens students' mind and stimulates their enthusiasm for inquiry;5) inquiry experiment can help students get the fun of studying and at thesame time it can provide impressive perceptual knowledge so that rational knowledge is made easy to understand and grasp. Therefore it can be concluded that this kind of experiment (inquiry experiment) teaching fit more into students' cognitive process.Secondly, based on Jean Piagat's Genetic Epistemology, Ausubel's Meaningful Learning theory and John Dewey's Participant Theory of Knowledge, the basic theoretical foundation for inquiry experiment teaching is constructed , and furthermore the theoretical framework of basic education theory—Zone of Proximal Development has been analyzed.Finally, two types of cases of teaching design in inquiry experiment in biology teaching in junior are exemplified and the background, strategy and goal of teaching design are evaluated and analyzed in this paper.This paper, on the foundation of comparison and analysis of theconcept, function, theoretical origin and real cases of teaching design in inquiry experiment in biology, introduces the classic evaluation and programmatic evaluation strategy concerning inquiry experiment ofbiology teaching...
