As a highly professional social group, the college teachers' task is to spread and research higher learning. As researchers, they basically need profound professional knowledge;and as instructors, they also need educational knowledge concerning their field. As for the educational knowledge for the college teachers, there is little research made before, which is comprehensive and systematic. Therefore, this thesis attempts to investigate the formation of the college teacher's educational knowledge. The following issues will be discussed. They are the property, characteristic, type, content, influential factors, formation, criteria of the formation and the strategies of the educational knowledge for college teachers. Based on all these researches, a systematic understanding of the educational knowledge will be achieved, the research field for college teachers will be widened and the definition of college teachers will be enriched. At the same time, the research hopes to perfect college teachers' knowledge structure, improve their teaching proficiency and provide a few guidelines to college teacher's professional training.This thesis falls into five parts:The first part goes to the property and characteristic of college teachers' educational knowledge. This research is completed through the comparison between "knowledge" and "educational knowledge", and the analysis of the characteristics of college education and the composing elements of college teachers' educational knowledge.The second part explores the type and content of the educational knowledge. The research takes dichotomy method and chooses three dimensions to unroll the explanation. The educational knowledge can be divided into common and individual, apparent and unapparent, theoretical and practical. The content of the educational knowledge consists of teaching designing, teaching process and reflection of the teaching in terms of chronological sequence.The third part investigates the formation of the educational knowledge. The factors that influence the formation of the educational knowledge are of objective and subjective. The process can be divided into two phases. The first one is the learning of the common educational knowledge, with the establishment of the individual educational knowledge as the second phase. This part also summarizes the characteristics of the formation.The forth part discusses the criteria of the formation. The objective criteria means to judge the formation of the educational knowledge through common senses, tradition, experiences, educational theory, teaching practice, common and individual knowledge, instrumentalism and rationalism, inward and outward knowledge. And the subjective criteria of the formation concerns with the personal experience of the teachers themselves.The fifth part talks about the strategy of the formation. Given the research the thesis has developed, the strategies, which include the combination of teaching and scientific research and practice of teaching research and training, are provided.
