Along with the development of higher education in China, there remains incongruity regarding the characteristics of higher education. The production of graduate students with similar aims and the non-standardized teaching of higher educational science both present problems in this area. So how to successfully classify the position and teaching aims of higher educational science will be the key factor in further developing education and producing good students. In order to strengthen the discipline of teaching and enhance the quality of graduate students, the author had chosen the topic of the goal of cultivating Chinese graduate students, and will discuss the following questions: the role of teaching in higher educational science, the goals of cultivating graduate students, and the potential of building new teaching models regarding graduate students. At the same time, in the view of new situation and the need for discipline's development, it makes a thorough discussion about the necessity of adjustment. It suggests two patterns, that is, academic-extension orientated and application orientated, as the graduates' cultivating goal; it also puts forward corresponding strategies in accordance with this cultivating pattern, hoping which can provide useful references for graduates' education in China.
