A Research On The Mental Health And Its Influential Factors Of Middle-aged Teachers In Colleges And Universities Of Inner Mongolia

The Middle Age is a transitional period from the young to the old. During this period, the physical conditions of people go from strength to weakness and most of people often feel worn out. But middle age is a special time, when people have to bear more loads from their family and enterprise, so they have more stress. Therefore, physical and mental disease becomes the main threat to people's health in the middle age.Middle-aged teachers in colleges and universities burden a lot like other people in the middle age. However, for their particular occupation, they should be given more attention. A lot of research shows that teachers have more stress than other occupations. Compared to middle school teachers and elementary school teachers, teachers in colleges and universities burden both teaching and scientific research. Especial middle-aged teachers, they are the backbones of teaching, scientific research and management and they burden more and heavier job. So, they feel more stressful than others.Aiming to know the mental health and its influential factors of middle-aged teachers in colleges and universities of Inner Mongolia, investigation has been made on 834 teachers aged from 36-55 in the colleges and universities of Inner Mongolia with methods of interview and questionnaire, including Symptom Checklist(SCL-90), self-made Scale for Work Stress and Coping Style Scale. The results were as follows:1. There are 45.9% of the whole that have certain symptom and 17.6% middle-aged teachers which SCL-90 sample score above 2.The average scores of obsessive-compulsive, somatization and depression are higher, but all of them are not beyond 2.
