Study in research is important to the reform of fundamental education in our country. Its target is to develop student's frontier spirit and practice ability and realize the reform of their study methods basically. Study in research is sill in the beginning stage in China, and the definiens of its content isn't very clear. Especially, the subject study on it is short of the practical investigation. This research is based on the biological study, and we use the methods of literature, investigation and interview to research that in eight senior middle schools in Shenyang. Through the study about different five levels of biological study in research, we want to discover the problems and draw our consideration.The results of this research show that the biological study in research isn't ideal in the senior middle schools of Shenyang, and that in different schools, the circumstances of it are different evidently. The students have the certain interest in the study, but our evaluation systems make them think that the course increases their study burden. In practice, the students'abilities of collection, analysis and arranging the information aren't strong. Teachers' instructional function is not ideal and this study has been guided by the teachers in school only. The evaluation of process and participation is not strong, and the students lack the self-evaluation abilities. At the same time, the students'self- management abilities are not strong and the management system of many schools is not good too. According to above, the researcher thinks that in order to improve the actual operability, universality and development of the biological study in research, we should expand synthetical study and establish rationalization biological study in research; change education idea, increase guide ability of biological teachers; develop student's interest and stir up their learning motive; establish evaluation mechanism about it; build up management guarantees system, development study source in school and out.
