| The university enrollment examination system is always a focus in China. The university enrollment examination enjoys even more sacred status in the minds of our Chinese people. Two factors should be taken into consideration when the talents are selected. One is the justice of the selecting procedures and methods. And the other is the accuracy of the selecting standards. The university enrollment examination ensures the superficial justice in that all students are equal by way of scores. But it is even more unjust when students of differing abilities are evaluated by the uniform standard. The validity of the university enrollment examination is often lost in some way, which implies that the accuracy of it is open to discussion. What's more, the 8th curriculum change in the field of basic education has come to a critical period of time. Its effectiveness depends, to a large extent, on the changes of the university enrollment examination in a way. Therefore we should seek for some new way of recruiting students for the institutes of higher learning. Then the diversity of selecting information becomes a must.The thesis has four parts.In the 1st part, the diversity of selecting information, as a concept for recruiting students for the institutes of higher learning, is established. And the status quo concerning the study is also analyzed. Based on the previous studies, the objectives, the train of thought and the methods employed are proposed.In the 2nd part, the theoretical foundations for the diversity of selecting information are discussed. Justice theory, validity theory, multiple intelligences, and information theory support the diversity of selecting information respectively.In the 3rd part, the realistic backgrounds and practical values of the diversity of selecting information are analyzed.
