Focusing on the study of inquiry teaching in universities, employing the methods of logical analysis and evidence analysis, this thesis analyses the significance and necessity of pushing inquiry teaching in universities, as well as the investigation from the angle of Higher Education. At the same time, it comprehensively and systematically explores the measures of reinforcing inquiry teaching. Generally, this paper mainly develops its idea in the following four aspects:Firstly, it points out the concept and characteristic of inquiry teaching. Inquiry teaching is a kind of teaching method, which is thinking of teaching and curriculum, form of teaching organization and relationship of teacher and student.Secondly, from the angle of education, this paper clarifies the necessity of pushing inquiry teaching in universities. From the angle of characteristic of universities, the paper defines the possibility of pushing inquiry teaching.Thirdly, on the base of investigation about inquiry teaching in China, it analyses actualities of inquiry teaching. The investigation shows that teachers and students are aware of the importance of advancing inquiry teaching. But there are some problems which influence inquiry teaching, for examples, teachers are not confident of the ability of inquiry teaching, correlative department in universities doesn't attach importance to it, there is a lack of inquiry teaching in training and so on.Last but not least, combining the investigation, it provides measures about how to advancing inquiry teaching. The measures are to build up modern educational thinking, improve the ability of inquiry teaching, innovate administrant system, perfect evaluator of inquiry teaching and make good use of teaching resource.
